D is for DEAD: A Ghost Story by Mina Khan

A multicultural ghost story in which Nasreen -- the Indian-American protagonist -- grapples with her life and death in West Texas.

My Review:

Dead isn't a scary ghost story, however it is bittersweet. Nasreen's life was almost as empty as her afterlife.  It is a short story so I don't want to give away the ending. It wasn't quite what I was expecting.  I'm still not sure if I'm completely satisfied. I guess it all depends on ones perspective. Which is fitting in a way since Nasreen's perspective on her afterlife changed throughout the story.

As I said above, it's a bittersweet story. I did enjoy it though. I've never read Khan's work before so this was a nice introduction and I'd be willing to pick up her work in the future. I would definitely recommend picking it up.
